604 is an ambiguous code language referring to the genre of Goa trance. This mixtape and zine project is centered around decoding the genre, tracing its musical influences by deconstructing the sum of its parts. It rejects any full-bodied idea and explores the occult world of psychedelic sound.
Conceptual Framework Proto goa as a "sound" or "scene" never existed. It's a phrase used to try and make sense of a sonic tapestry that became Goa trance. Within this ill-defined zone, self-organised hippies, nomads, squatters and new-age travellers rejected neo-liberalism and approached alternative lifestyles. Some jumped headfirst into the denial of utopian liberation, others engaged in transgressive terraforming during an era of social polarity.
